しおり bookmark
idobataのお客さんは5割くらいが海外からの方です。それなのでなるべく英語も併記するようにしています。実際には英語圏ではないタイや台湾、南米大陸の方が多いくらいで、それらの言語で書ければ良いのですがカタコトの英語が限界です。（※ときどき英語の添削を受けています。添削を受けた箇所は素晴らしい英文になっています。）
さて、最近、清澄白河が色々と話題になっています。そうです。ブルーボトル。idobataのスタイルがハンドドリップなので、店の前を通るアメリカの方たちからも「〇×△□ blue bottle 〇×△□・・・」というフレーズが聞こえてきます。
しかし、今日はブルーボトルのお話じゃありません。清澄白河の古書店しまぶっくさんのしおりの紹介です。idobataではしまぶっくさんの本を少し置かせていただいています。興味を持っていただけた方には、今までは、口頭でしまぶっくさんを紹介していました。なのでショップカードとか何かあれば良いなと思っていたらidobataのデザイン担当がしまぶっくさんのしおり兼ショップカードを作ってくれました。
このしおりはシンプルで使いやすいのでちょっとその紹介をします。
Half of our customers are from foreign countries. Their linguistic areas are wide-ranging. They are not necessarily English-speaking ones. As a matter of fact, the people from Chinese-speaking countries make up the largest number. On a daily basis we hear English, Chinese, German, French, Spanish, Thai, Russian, and many other. We know we should deal, both in our shop and on this blog, with as many languages as possible. But in actuality it's beyond our ability.That's why we have chosen to use English, as a "de facto" universal language. (Still we have to get all words and phrases corrected.)
Now, there's recently all this talk about "Kiyosumi-Shirakawa" in the east of Tokyo. Most of you will be undoubtedly reminded of a high-profile cafe "Blue Bottle". As you know, "Blue Bottole" doesn't use any electrical drip brewer, instead they think much of hand-drip brewing. The same is true for us. We often hear the people going by us referring to "...blue bottle..." or something of the sort.
Today, we're going to mention some other subject than "Blue Bottle". There is in the same area around Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station a brilliant second-hand book shop. Its trading name is "Shima-book". The shop really is something. We're handling some of their books in Kamakura, providing their shop cards doubling as bookmarks.
書店でもらえるしおりは挟んだままページをめくると本が少し反発します。それなので気を少し抜くとその反動でページがめくれてしまったりします。
An usual rectangular bookmark has so strong a presence that if, just leaving it between the former pages, we open the next page, then the leaf will automatically flips itself back to a previous page where the bookmark in question is being put.
このしおりは三角形になっていて反発力が弱いので本に良くなじんでくれます。先をつまんで上に出しておけばよりなじみますし、しまぶっくさんのロゴが表に飛び出て宣伝に。
Our homemade bookmarks, being pretty little and triangular, are not so imposing. then they're in fact both book- and user-friendly very much.
